Blog #17, DUE: Friday, Feb. 8th, 2013

Post the title and author of your novel.

Find a poem (you might want to Google or search online) that you think fits your novel in some way -- I'm purposefully leaving this open to interpretation.

Post the poem (if it's extremely long, feel free to post just a portion of it), and explain why you chose it to match your novel.

Blog #16, DUE: Friday, Feb. 1st, 2013

Post the book you're reading and its author.

Almost all fiction authors have to do some kind of research before they write their novels.  For example, JK Rowling might have researched historical sites in London and different creatures from mythology.  Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games series, might have researched different types of weapons or survival skills.  The author of Twilight researched Native-American traditional stories.

Tell me something that you think your author researched before he or she wrote your novel.  Explain why you choose this (how it relates to your novel).

Blog #15, DUE: SATURDAY, January 26, 2012

(Sorry I posted this late - it's due Saturday instead of Friday!)

Post your book title and author.

We have been learning the persuasive technique of acknowledging the other side and then refuting it (counterargument).

Describe a situation in which one of your characters might want to persuade another character to do something or to believe something.  After describing the situation, pretend you are the character and write a counterargument.

I will post an example.

Post the author and title of your novel.

Vocabulary:  Find four words in your novel that you do not know well.  List those four words.
Next, choose one of those four words, write the sentence that contains that word from your novel, and then look the word up.  Write the definition of this word.

Post your book title and author.

Briefly describe your main character.

Choose a winter holiday that your character or your character's family might celebrate (for example, Christmas, Hannukah).  Now describe what that character's holiday would be like.
