I am reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth.
1) One thing i really like about this book is how the author puts surprise twists in the book. For example, someone important dies or a character changes their beliefs about which side of the battle they are on (i won't mention specifics for those of you who haven't read this book yet).
2)Something i dislike about this book is how it ends in the middle of a conflict, making you get the next book if you want to finish it.
3) I will probably read the third book of Divergent next, however i don't know if it's published yet.

I am reading Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer.
1.One thing I really liked aboutmy book is how the author reveals to you more and more hidden secrets one step at a time, instead of blurting it out all at once. This helps keep me interested with the book and makes me have fun guessing or trying to figure out what will happen next.
2.Something I disliked about my book was that the author killed of one of the main characters (I won't say which) who was part of the major plot of the book. I also disliked that they killed him off, when he was so close into taking revenge for what happened to his parents' murderer.
3.I will probably read the fourth book, Rift, which will most likely explain all the hidden secrets of the present in my book.

KHouse5: I heard that those books were really good. Great likes and dislikes on your book.

Also, I meant to say that one thing I disliked about my book, was when he was so close into taking revenge for what happened to his parents' murder. (I was typing to fast)

I just finished Stranded by Jeff Probst.
1) One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the surprises and plot twists that kept me from putting the book down. (which took about an hour since it was about a hundred pages)
2) Something I didn't like about Stranded was the fact that the ending was a cliff-hanger ending, since it is the first of three books.
3) The book I would like to read next is Trial By Fire, the second book in the Stranded series.

Your book sounds like it has the style of writing that I like (What with killing off characters, revealing just enough at a time to make you want more, etc.).

I'm reading Walking Chaos by Patrick Ness

1. I really enjoy the sci-fi fantasy and the technology that they have. I also like the story line and the twists it has.

2. I did not like the beggining because it was slow and was not something u could read for more than 10 minutes.

3. The next book I want to read is the second book in the Chaos triliogy.

AMowry5 said...

KHouse5-Yeah I dont like when it ends at a big part but I guess they want their money for the next book.

I have just started to read Mythology by Edith Hamilton.
1) One thing about this book that I like is how in the beginning, it gives a description of all the Greek gods and goddesses that will be in the story.
2) One thing I dislike is that it isn't very engaging like other books. It's actually kind of boring, for now at least.
3)Next I'll probably want to read another book off of the Eastside IB summer reading list just to get it over with in order to enjoy summer with no worries.

KHouse5: I heard Veronica Roth was a really great author. You should give me hints as what the twist is too.

KHouse5 said...

ABerryman5: That sounds like a really interesting book! Maybe i'll read that next instead of the last book of divergent (because i don't think it's out yet).

I have just finished The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks.
1.) Something I enjoyed a lot was the imagery that the author used. He was very descriptive which put a picture into my head automatically.
2.) Something I disliked about the book was that in the story one of the characters became mad at another (don't want to spoil for others) for not a very good reason. Honestly, I believe that the reason was pointless.
3.) As for a book I want to read next, I would like to read If I stay because it seems very interesting.
KHouse5: That book seems great! I've heard many good things about the series.

I am currently reading the Beyonders by Bradon Mull.
1. Something I am enjoying about this book is the twists and turns that it takes, making the story very interesting and makes you want to keep reading and reading.
2. Something I dislike about this book is that it is rather creepy at times, like a book bound in human skin with an eye that watches you!
3. The book that I what to read next is the Beyonders book two! Which I hope is just as exciting and fun to read as the first one.

VGomez6: I've heard Nicholas Sparks is a really good author! He writes lots of the romantic classics.

Book: Boot Camp
Author: Todd Strasser
1. this book is amazing from the first 25 pages i have already read. it is a real suspense grabber. it also has allot of cliff hangers and suspense build up. Its not my usual cup of tea.
2. it kinda hits those boring parts in the middle of the chapters but when u keep going on it gets a little more interesting then it gradually crescendoes in interest.
3. I am really itching to read fallen angels or another Vietnam/korean war book or a navy book.

ABerryman5: Thats so awesome. I should read that.

I am currently reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.
1. I really enjoy that the book is written in first because I like knowing one person's thoughts all of the time.
2. I don't like how the book has a bunch of romantic parts. I'd rather read some vampire and werewolf action.
3. I will read New Moon next because it is the sequel.

Kaslanidi5 said...

I just finished Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
1. One thing I liked about this book was that there were animals involved. Before Pi's family tried moving to Canada, they owned a zoo and Pi told about all his experiances around the animals. Once Pi was stranged out at sea, his only companion was a tiger.
2. Something I disliked was that the setting stayed the same for most of the story. Pi was stranged on a life boat the whole time.
3. I will probably read thirteen reasons why next.
KHouse5: Your book sounds really good! I hate when books end like that though.

AVellis6 said...

I finished a book called Forget Me Not by Carolee Dean.
1) I like the way she wrote this book. It is written in poem form or one could say it looks like a script for a play. I think that it fits the book.
2)The one thing that I don't like about this book is that it ended. Actually it makes me sad that I don't know what happened to one of the characters. It never tells me why that person is like that. They mention it very briefly.
3) I think I am going to start the Lord of the Rings books that I got for Christmas or Pride Prejudice and Zombies. I don't know which I will start.

ABerryman5: Is that a good series? I need more books to read until the next book in the Lunar Chronicles comes out so I don't go crazy.

Ocallen6 said...

I recently finished the book Feed by M.T. Anderson.
1)One thing I really enjoyed about this book is how the author is somewhat accurate in their prediction of what a dystopian future might look like. With the increase in new technology and based on how much people are dependent on technology currently, I don't think the idea is too far-fetched.
2) I really did not like how depressing the book was near the end, and I usually don't mind sad books. Near the end, Titus's girlfriend dies from a malfunctioning feed. Before she dies, however, she attempts to teach Titus why the feed is destroying their society, and why it is corrupt. Violet also sends Titus her fondest memories via the feed, which he ignores. In the end, Titus learns nothing from Violet and Violet dies.
3) A book I think I might want to read next would probably be The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein. I've seen the movie, but have never had the patience to read the book.

Kaslanidi5,
I've heard that book is really good! Does Pi ever find his way back?

My book is Beyonders, Chasing the Prophecy, by Brandon Mull, and one thing that I really enjoy about the Book is the detail. The author paints an amazing picture of this world beyond our own, the various terrains in the world of Lyrian. One thing that I didn’t like about the book was the fact that so many people that I grew to relate with in the book were killed in their quest to overthrow the empire ruling over Lyrian. The book left room for a follow-up series to rise up, so if that were to ever come up, I would want to read that.
~~KHouse5, that series sounds good, but personally, I don’t like twists that much.

I am reading eragon by Christopher Paolini.

1) Something enjoyable about my book is that it is set back into medieval times, which is one of my favorite time periods to read about. Also, it is fictional, which is my favorite genre.

2) Something I don't like about my book is that at times it is hard to follow. Additionally, the author sometimes goes into too much detail about something that doesn't really need to be explained.

3) The book I want to read next is Divergent, because I have heard so many exiting compliments about.

KHouse5: I also love it when the author puts surprise twists into the story, because it keeps me interested in the book, and I don't want to put it down.

The book I am currently reading is Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star.
1)One thing I really like about this book is that the author describes the setting really well, which helps me get an idea of the surroundings and situations throughout the book.
2)Something I dislike about the book is transitions between important parts of the book. Just the author's way of telling what happens at some points doesn't quite capture my attention.
3)I will probably read the next book in the series, Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague since I'm eager to see what happens next.

KHouse5: That was a great book, I agree with you on how the book ends kinda poorly.

The book I am currently reading is Matched by Ally Condie.

1) Something I enjoy most about my book is how it is so mysterious. Cassia falls in love but with the wrong person… This book is very good at giving description and really paints a picture in my mind. I also like the fact that her grandfather gave her the hint to open her eyes and see what goes beyond what is generally accepted because if he hadn’t she wouldn’t have realized who her true match should be.

2) Something I don’t really like about my book is that it is sometimes a difficult read. Some of the words are harder to comprehend but using context clues they are pretty easy to figure out.

3) The next book I would probably like to read is 13 Reasons Why. A lot of my friends have read it and say it is a fantastic book.

VGomez6- The Lucky One is a fantastic book. I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks! Have you read any of his other books?

The book I am reading is A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron.

1) One thing I really like about this book is how the author explains how everyone has a purpose in life even dogs. Once that purpose is fulfilled then life goes on and there is nothing left to complete. It really touches you when you read it because this dog was special to multiple different families.

2) One thing I dislike about this book is that it is sad. At One part in the book this dog, whose name is Bailey lives in a family for almost 9-10 years and he dies of old age. That was depressing because his owner had lived with Bailey ever since he was a little boy and they grew very attached to each other. His family had to put him to sleep because he was struggling.

3) The next book I think I will probably read is Safe Haven because I like romance novels and I want to read the book before I see the movie.

KatyP6 said...

TCummings6: I have always wanted to read that book! A lot of books that I read are difficult to read too.

I am currently reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

1) One thing I like about this book is the tapes that are being sent around. Each tape tells a story of why Hannah Baker killed herself. Although they are sad, they each tell their own story.

2) What I disliked about the book is how depressing it is. The book kind of puts you in an upsetting mood. It makes sense that it would be sad but the book is still amazing.

3) Next, I will be reading Eldest which is the next book in the Eragon series.

LScammacca6 said...

@KaylaN5- The Fablehaven Series is by far one of my favorites! Keep reading - they only get better!

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
1)The author does a great job incorporating Greek Mythology into a book set in modern day. He changes the gods and goddesses to fit the stereotypical modern day standards as well as including their own unique, majestic qualities.
2)One aspect of the novel I particularly disliked was the fact that it was not very descriptive, in that I did not have to evaluate or come to any conclusions. It seemed slightly simplified.
3)I would like to read Life of Pi because it seems like an interesting plot. I would like to discover the details of what happens, then compare it to the movie.
LScammacca:I read that book... its really good!

I finished reading The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.
1. The thing I really liked about this book was how it always left you on the edge of your seat. There were many interesting fights where it sometimes seemed like the good guys wouldn’t win.
2. I didn’t like how the main character Bilbo was made to seem so weak.
3. I want to read J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring which is the book that comes after The Hobbit.

KPhillips5 said...

SThomas6: I loved that book. I do have to agree though with it not being very descriptive.

I am reading The Last Dragon by Silvana DeMari.

1. I like the book because a lot of things happen that couldn't happen in real life like how the elf can use secret powers to keep his quest going.

2. The book is really confusing and hard to follow in many parts.
3. I will probaly read another book by Silvana DeMari because even though this book was hard to follow at times, it was a really good book when i could understand it.

REmmons6 said...

AMowry5: That sounds like a really cool book to read. I like sci-fi too.

Book: Unit 731-Japan’s Wartime Human Experimentation Program

Author: Hal Gold

1.This book is about Japan’s Wartime Human Experimentation Program. What I enjoyed about this book is that even though it’s a nonfiction book about a complicated topic it was very easy to comprehend. I would even compare it to an easy read. What I also enjoyed about this book was that it gave keen details on what types of experiments were done to the prisoners (ex. Injections of diseases and frostbite) and types of research was done at these units (vaccines for diseases).
2.There are few details I don’t like about this book. One is there isn’t as many pictures about the Units provided in the book as I’d like.
3.The next book I hope to read is The Tales of Two Cities or Les Miserables.

ABerryman5: I also don’t like it when authors kill off one of the main characters especially a character I really like.

I am reading The City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare.

One thing that I really liked about this book is that there are a lot of imagery and suspenseful moments in this book. It really enhances the story and makes the story more interesting for the readers.

One thing that I didn't like about this book was that the beginning was very slow and did not grab your attention that well.

A book that I would like to read next is the City of Glass because this is the next book in the Mortal Instruments series.

In my book Daniel X by James Patterson, something i really enjoy about my book is how in depth and detailed it is. For example, on page 83, it says,"I could not breath, the blow to the gut knocked it out of me. The pain was brutal." Something i dont like about my book is that it has many gross parts. It describes blood and gore very strongly and all though i enjoy the amounts of detail the author uses, not in the way shown in parts with blood and gore. A book i might want to read next would probably be Catching Fire from the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Because i like Sy-Fy and thriller books for there emotions and details shown throughout the novel.

Book: CHERUB Book 6 Man vs. Beast

Author: Robert Muchamore

1. One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was that the characters were relatable, even though they live in a different country and a few years earlier than I do. They are secret agents, but they are also teens who want to goof around and hang out with their friends.

2. I did enjoy this book; however, one thing I did not like about it was that at certain times the characters talk about how terrible being a vegetarian is. I am slightly offended and annoyed when they talk like this, because I am a vegetarian. However, this aside, the book was really good.

3. The books I am planning on reading next are the second Artemis Fowl book and the seventh CHERUB.

LJohnston5 said...

@DXi5: Les Miserables is an awesome movie. Tell me how the book is.

The book I am reading is Clockwork Angle by Cassandra Clare.
1.) I enjoy the vivid description the author includes in this book. In the beginning she describes the dark sisters that are keeping the main character prisoner. Her figurative language and imagery make this book more enjoyable.
2.) Something I did not enjoy in this book was that the book is in the main character's point of view. The reader is kept in the dark from other characters' thoughts and life. Although it makes the book more mysterious, I would like it more if it was in 3rd person.
3.) The book I plan on reading next is Clockwork Prince since it is the sequel to Clockwork Angle.

LScammacca6: I also didn't like how depressing the book was. Great blog post!

I am currently reading The Line by Terri Hall. I like the way this book is different from anything else I’ve ever read. It is set in the future, but after a big war and the Us isn’t United States, but Unified States. The book is very detailed and is very interesting. I do not like how it took almost half of the book for the plot to pick up. It was a really interesting introduction, but it was just giving background information. I would have liked more plots in the Intro. I think that I am going to read the Need series next. A friend told me about them and I am now really interested.

I recently just finished Nim's Island by Wendy Orr. This was a very interesting book and it is the second time I have ever read it. The best thing about this book was the description of the uncharted island that Nim, her dad, and her animal friends lived on. One thing that I didn't like about Nim's Island, was the way that it didn't get into a good description of the ending or how Nim and her dad were finally reunited. I think the book I will probably read next are the books from the Gainesville High School reading list. One in particular is A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines.

KHouse5: That sounds like a really interesting book, and I've heard about it alot! How do you like it so far?

BYoung6 said...

I am reading The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan.
1) One thing I really enjoyed is the plot. It is basically the clashing of two different but similar cultures,
Greek and Roman. I love how both groups have to work together for a bigger conflict other then the tension between them.

2) Other than the chapters not being titled I think the part that bothers me about the book is how some parts are slower than others. There's parts that seem like the author should have spent less time writing about.

3) A book I might read next is Perks of being a Wallflower since I really enjoyed the movie.

@KHouse5: I absolutely love the Divergent series I can't wait until the third book comes out! And I totally agree with your answer to question 1.

Kbelvin5 said...

The book that I just finished was Pritties by Scott Westerfeld. I loved the discriptions of trying to get back to normal, but I did not like all of the begining of the book where it is the 'new' verison of her with all of the changes that caused her to become a pretty. The book that I want to read next is the next book in the trilogy, Specials.

AStutz5 said...

I have recently finished Prodigy by Marie Lu.

1) What I enjoy in this book is the details and how well developed the characters are. Each one seems to obtain a certain gift that comes into play in each and every situation, like from a photographic memory to a steel leg. I also like the action, the sneaking around under the government’s nose, or piloting a high speed jet through a narrow tunnel. This book just seems to keep you on your toes and hungry for more.

2) I dislike the all too common love story that takes part in it. It’s the cliché “I’m different, your different, but somehow we get each other.” romance that drove me away from this book, not to mention the “we get each other, but suddenly there is another guy who understands me.” and the “how am I going to chose” overused thought patterns.

3) Since the next book in the series won’t be out for a while, I will go back to reading literature again. I will probably start off with the Jungle Book, and try to avoid the Adventures of Tom Sawyer for as long as I can.

MaceyD6 said...

I am reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

1.) One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the fact that it left you wanting more. It was really suspenseful and definitely made me want to finish the entire thing really quickly.

2.) One thing I disliked was the fact that I will have to wait till the third book comes out to finally see what happens. :(

3.) The book I will probably read next will probably be the book called Legend. I have heard that it is similar to the Divergent series and it's supposed to be really interesting.:)

The book I am reading now is Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis. One thing I really enjoy about my book is the amount of detail the author goes in to describe the enviroments, likewhere Prince Caspian lives and things like that. One thing I dont like is the word choice used in the book. It is very old timey and doesnt sound very good these days. However, it was written very long ago so it makes sense why it sounds so old fashioned. The book I plan on reading next is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the next book in the series.

KBelvin5: Your book sounds very interesting and unique.

I am just finished reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
1.) Something I enjoyed about the book was how the book portrayed the characters. She had very descriptive, ways of talking about the four sisters, and giving them each their own different personalities.
2.) Something I didn't like was that it used a bit of old English words, which made me have to look up what a lot of the words meant for me to understand what they were saying.
3.) I think that I will want to start reading the Beyonders books. We borrowed them from a friend, and they are supposed to be interesting so I will probably end up reading both of them.

I am currently reading Foundling by D.M. Cornish.
1. One thing I really liked about this book is that they have their own and special language. For example, ~ine at the end of pronouns is said as the "een" sound in "bean"
2. Something that I dislike about this book is there are too many unique words, and it makes some difficulties to me to understand the story.
3. I will probably read the second book, Lamplighter, which will eventually lead to the new conflicts and new monsters.

I am currently reading Cherub: The Killing authored by Robert Muchamore.
1. I enjoy how descriptive the book is. You can really picture everything that is being written.
2. I don't like that they have the mission briefings in the book. I usually just skim over them not paying any attention to them.
3. I want to read the next book in the series.

I am reading Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry.
1. What I like about this book is that it is very mysterious, you never really know what will happen next, and its always a pleasant surprise. It has many twists and turns, making almost every part interesting.
2. What I don't really like about this book is that, it does not have much in common with the book, the Giver, since this is the second in the series.
3. I would probably read Messenger, by Lois Lowry since is the next book in the Giver sereis.

I am currently reading the book Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. The thing I like about my book is that it is really intense. You have no idea when or what is going to happen. I can never figure out when Katy's abusive husband is going to find her. Something I don't like about my book is that in the beginning it's a slow pace. Like it takes a while go get to the really interesting part. I think I might want to read the book The Host. I have always been interested in these type of books so I think it will fit me well. I also want to read the book before I see the movie.

I am reading The Lost Prince by Julia Kagawa and my favorite part is when he meets the half-blood, fairy. When he realizes that it is a fey, he freaks out and runs away, but at the end he ends up helping him. The part I didn’t like was when he trapped the pixy, the half-bloods friend, in the gym bag because the pixy got mad and could have easily hurt Ethan, that main character. The book I might read next is the Inescapable series by Amy Bartol because it sounds very interesting and it’s the genera I enjoy reading the most.

I just finished reading The Gardener by S.A. Bodeen.
1)One thing i like about the book is that it took a while for Mason to realize that Laila was a plant. it mimicked how a real life person would find out and react.
2)I don't like the ending to the story because it ends right when Mason saw Laila in over 2 years.
3)The book i am going to read next is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

BHarbaugh5 said...

KHouse5, my book is similar because the author imputs lots of surprise twists too.
