The book I am reading now is The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snickett. (Sorry I'm a really slow reader)A holiday that I believe that the main character, Violet, might celebrate is Christmas. I believe that she will celebrate Christmas because Christmas is a time where you can spend time with your family and by the way Violet is described in this book, she obviously loves her family. She really loves her parents and she shows it when she is really depressed when her parents died in a fire. She also really loves her siblings Klaus and Sunny because in the book, there was one time where Violet had agreed to marry Count Olaf and forfeit her family fortune or else Sunny, who's in a birdcage on a tall tower, will be dropped at a great distance. I believe that Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's Christmas will be spent at Judge Strauss's house, their friendly neighbor. They would read in Judge Strauss's library, which is one of their favorite hobbies, and help the judge with her garden. Afterwards all of them would make dinner together like they did for Count Olaf's theatre troop. However, I believe that in the midst of them enjoying Christmas, Count Olaf will order them to go back to his house where they will return to their current, miserable lives as orphans.

The book I just finished is Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. The main character, Katniss Everdeen is a skilled hunter and gatherer. Also, she's extrememly courageous. An example to show how courageous she is is in the first book, The Hunger Games, she volunteers as tribute for her little sister, Prim. Not only is she courageous but she's also very headstrong. She is not good at taking in criticisms from anyone, especially her mentor, Haymitch. The holiday I believe she would celebrate is Thanksgiving because she always refers back to her dad about how she is who she is because of her dad and how her dad taught her everything starting with hunting. To continue, she can hunt so the food would be ready for the family's thanksgiving meal.

BNguyen5: I read that book! It's really good.

I am currently reading 1984 by George Orwell. The main character is a middle aged man named Winston. Winston lives in a corrupt society were he'd get killed for thinking to much or aposing the gevernment. Winston know's there are others like him who think the government is wrong but since everyone's afraid of getting killed, no one speaks there mind. The citizens in world Winston lives in aren't allowed to practice religion. They are also to poor to get each other gifts. A holiday they would probably celebrate would be New Year. Though they might not be excited for another year in a corupt society, they would probablly be forced to celebrate the coming of another 'great year'.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis alludes to the Bible many times. A major allusion was when Aslan the lion sacrificed his life for a “sinner” Edmund. Edmund betrayed him by telling the malevolent White Witch of his whereabouts. In the bible Jesus sacrificed his life for sinners so they could go to heaven. Aslan was brutally killed, as Jesus was, on The Stone Table. Sarah and Lucy, who watched in secret, ran toward him and wept by his dead body. By the next sunrise Alsan rose from the dead and saved many lives in the battle that was raging on between Narnia and the White Witch. Aslan charged into the battle and killed her. The author might have chosen this allusion for the audience to tie why the characters act the way they do to something known by the majority of the population.

The book I am reading now is Daniel X:Final Destination by James Patterson. In this book on page 127, it has a word with the root word phobia. The word that was used was arachnophobia. This word relates to my book because all throughout this book, Daniel has fear. Fear of heights, fear of aliens, but as it stated here, his biggest fear is spiders. In the section he encounters a 6ft. tall spider that he must defeat to survive. What arachnophobia means is to have a fear of spiders which i what Daniel has. I predict that the next thing that will happen in this book will be Daniel defeating the Prayer. By doing so, he will avenge his parents and gain back possession of the List which will set him up for more adventures.

I am currently reading Maze Runner by James Dashner. I think my character Thomas would celebrate Christmas. Because he doesn’t know where he his or why he’s there he could use some joy. I think the whole Glade would go cut a tree from the forest down together and then put it next to the East Door. Frypan would cook some cookies and popcorn and they would string them on the tree along with some homemade ornaments. They would have a ceremony, but probably wouldn’t have any gifts. They would probably slaughter a bunch of animals and have a huge feast. There Christmas might not be on the right day, but it would be the thought that counts.

Book: Pride and Prejudice
Author: Jane Austen
In my book there is a character called Lydia; she is the youngest of the Bennet sisters.  Being the youngest she is ignorant and likes to gossip; she also is head over heels for romance.  She likes going into town to flirt with the military officers stationed there. This is proven when later in the novel *(spoiler)* she elopes with Mr. Wickham a broke, debt owing, military officer.  She pushes it off by saying she was the first of the Bennet sisters to marry.
A book I believe she would enjoy would be a romance book such as Twilight.  Being ignorant she won't find the idea of falling in love with a vampire dangerous. She would also find the idea of eternal love and a love triangle romantic.

I am currently reading Hidden by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. The character Aphrodite was originally a character no one liked; she was rude and disrespectful, she still is a little bit. When Zoey Redbird comes, however, to the House of Night she becomes a little nicer to everyone. She is still the normal rude Aphrodite half the time, but she acts differently. When she figures out Neferet’s, the “principal” at the House of Night, she realizes that she will need Zoey’s help more than she ever thought she would need.
Aphrodite: “I am scared, I mean I shouldn’t be, I’m the bravest one here, but I am. Neferet is making an army of dead fledglings, vampires that didn’t complete the transition. She also has a bull type man thing named Aurox, he’s suspicious. He just strutted right through the doors of the House of Night and thinks he’s all that? No, that is not going to happen any longer. All the girls think he’s cute, I do, but he has got to go. He’s starting to stare at Zoey, though. Why does she always get the guys now? There is nothing special about her, other than that she is stronger than us and has a special power. I need her help, she is the only thing that can stop Neferet from completing her army. We all need her help, I need her help because, somehow, I’m not a vampire fledgling anymore.”

DXi5: Great book, I haven’t read it, but I have seen the movie, good job.

Book: CHERUB Mission 1: The Recruit
Author: Robert Muchemore

In my book, the main character, James Choke has many enemies, in fact, most people he have met so far have hated him. However, so far none have come close to the monster that is Large.

Villain's Perspective:
"Come on ladies!" I yell at the recruits "We have training to do. It is my duty..."
"And your pleasure." A young devil murmurs.
"To make these next 100 days the worst of your entire life." I continue. "What's your name trainee?"
"James Choke." He shoots back.
I tell him off and then start briskly walking to my fire hose.
I hear cheers from the demons as I laugh at how they think they have beaten me.
"No James Choke, the worst is yet to come." I mutter to my colleagues. "He'll be gone by Christmas."

Blog #8 The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. There is constant allusion to greek and roman mythology in this book. Like existance of the olympians and demi-gods. There are also minotaurs, titans, monsters, and spirits. That is just some of the allusion to greek and roman mythology.
