I am reading The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan. I am on page 235. The most important word in the section is memory. Memory is the most important word because past memories and loss of memory have defined the character's in the book. Percy Jackson completely lost his memory causing him to act differently then the rest of the characters and eventually ending him up on a quest in the hope of regaining his memory. For Hazel she keeps blacking out as her past memories haunt her making her vulnerable on the quest to attacks. For Frank his memories could hold the key to his survival but he does not yet understand what certain memories mean.

comment:LPaxton5- I'm reading the Lucky One now! It's so good. And I agree with you, I think Clayton makes Beth and Ben's lives unstable, and what Logan went through in Iraq really made it hard for him to be honest with Beth.

I just finished reading Wishful Thinking by Alexandra Bullen. The most important word for this section is home. I chose home as the most important word because the main character, Hazel. After making her wishes assigned to the dresses she wore to specific events, she used her last wish to return home. She is extremely sad, but knows that what she needed to do is done, and that she needs to get back to the time she was in before any of the events in that time period get messed up and changes her future (her real life at her current age). Home sweet home is all anybody wants anymore, and thankfully, everyone is able to obtain that wish. This is why I think the most important word of this section is home.

Rachel - That book sounds great! I might have to read it!!

I am reading The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan and I am on page 103. Based on what I have read, the most important word I think would be gods. I chose this because Percy has been led to a camp in which everyone is a son or daughter of a god or goddess. Even though Percy has these same powers as everyone else he does not remember anything about him even his godly parent.

I am reading Misery by Steven King and I'm on page 29.
The most important word in the section I am reading is novel. I think novel is the most important word for the first section of the book because it is mostly about a famous writer writing a novel in his winter cabin. This sets the whole book without the word novel in the first section we would not understand the story line. Novel is also important because it doesn't only describe the story line it also describes Paul Sheldon's (main character) life and his personality. Without the word novel we the readers wouldn't understand his character and personality.

WARNING! GIVES AWAY ENDING!
The book I was reading was Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and I just finished it. I would think that the most important word in this section would be Katniss. Even though it is the main character’s name, she was the most important part in the section. This is because she had led the rest of her groups members into the city so they can kill President Snow, then she helped make sure everyone was safe going throughout the underground escape routes. Even though most of the people in the group, like Finnick, died, they died trying to save Katniss, making sure she stayed alive. If Katniss died, then that would mean the Capitol would have won, and the rebels couldn’t afford that to happen. Then, when she did end up with the chance to kill President Snow, she didn’t, she killed President Coin from the rebel side for killing her sister, Primrose. Everything that happened happened because of Katniss. She ended up being sent away back to District 12 where she and Peeta rekindled their love, got married, and after 15 years, had 2 kids.

My book is called Monster by Walter Dean Myers and I am on page 47.

The main character's name is Steve Harmon. The main conflict he has with himself is dealing with the reality of prison and his current world. The book is set-up like a movie script written along by Steve so that Steve can vent his thoughts out. At times though, he starts writing on plain paper with his handwriting about his honest thoughts about his situation of being convicted of murder and his imprisonment. Many times he talks about the amount of violence that happens in the prison. Broken people who only know violence as the best problem-solver. In fact, the first sentance of the book starts as:

"The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help."

The external conflict is between Steve and society. He is being accused of murder. So far, the audience (me) does not know what the truth is. But just the fact of being convicted in public court and jury for felony murder is difficult. Especially if your defending lawyer says that the best chance you have is life in prison since the accusers want you executed.

Cameron-

I heard that Steven King was really scary and quite disturbing...I don't know I hear too much about him...

Maybe after you are done reading, tell me what you think of the man.

I am reading The Metamorphasis by Franz Kafka
An internal conflict the main character is experiencing is that he does not know what do with himself or how to handle his "situation" he has transformed into a strange bug overnight and he does not know how. An external conflict he is having is that he can not reverse this or fix it. His appearance renders him unable to get help from anyone, so he is alone.
Charles-
Great word to choose, memory is very very important, and i like the info you gave about the story.
Alyssa-
I have never heard of that book before, maybe my sister has. Anyway, nice word to choose, and nice way to make a connection to reality.
